Biological activity:

Formononetin (Formononetol, BiochaninB) is a phytoestrogen from the roots of Astragalus and is an O-methyl isoflavone.

Chemical properties:

White crystalline powder, soluble in methanol, ethanol, and acetone, extracted from the rhizomes of Astragalus membranaceus, the inflorescences and flowering branches and leaves of the leguminous plant Trifolium Pratense L, and the whole plant of Ononisspinosa.

use:

It has antibacterial, antifungal, cholesterol-lowering and estrogen-like effects. It has a hypolipidemic effect on experimental animals. Clinically used as a diuretic.
